OU Campus Training

OU Campus is a Web Content Management System that allows users to create and maintain Web pages without having to know any HTML. Some of the features include multi-browser support, in-context WYSIWYG editor, direct edit, auto save, scheduled publishing, workflow and integration with Facebook and Twitter. OU Campus is implemented using new SJSU Templates which were conceived of and developed by students, with input from a broad array of campus stakeholders.

Hands-on Training Sessions

Hands-on Training Sessions are geared towards those who want to learn how to create, update and manage their website in OU Campus.

Seating is limited and registration closes a week before the class so please register in advance (each class in the Events Calendar has a large red "Register" button). Walk-ins will be accommodated if seats are available. Training session may be cancelled if there are less than 3 attendees. If you need any assistance contact webservices@sjsu.edu

Basic Training

OU Campus 101: Basic Training

This class will cover the basics of editing content and managing pages within the university's web content management system: OUCampus. By the end of the session, participants will have the tools and knowledge necessary to manage their own website.

Advanced Training

These sessions cover advanced OU Campus features and the expectation in this session is that participants have a valid OU Campus account and basic orientation with OU Campus.

OUCampus 201: Site Navigation and Architecture

After completing this class you will understand how to create and customize page navigation in OU Campus. In addition, you will gain an understanding of the basic principles of how to organize and construct website infrastructure.

OUCampus 202: Special Templates, Reusable Content and Social Media Integration

This class will cover how to use the special templates (Forms, RSS, Faculty/Staff List), how to take advantage of reusable content (Snippets and Assets), and demonstrate integration possibilities with third-party social media services.

OU Campus 301: Photo Galleries and Web Forms

This class will cover how to build photo galleries and create web forms for your website. Powered by Assets, each of these new features are easy to create and easy to maintain.

Knowing how to use Assets is important for this class. If you haven't used Assets before, please review the documentation and training material that covers them. (Assets are covered in the OU Campus 202 training session.)

Open Lab Sessions

Open Lab Sessions are geared towards seeking consultation on specific topics such as: "How can I embed my Google calendar? Should I implement a snippet or asset? How can I change the navigation order?" No registration is needed to attend the open lab. Listed below are upcoming lab sessions.
