OU Campus Training

OU Campus is a Web Content Management System that allows users to create and maintain Web pages without having to know any HTML. Some of the features include multi-browser support, in-context WYSIWYG editor, direct edit, auto save, scheduled publishing, workflow and integration with Facebook and Twitter. OU Campus is implemented using new SJSU Templates which were conceived of and developed by students, with input from a broad array of campus stakeholders.

Training Workshops

Training workshops are designed to towards those who want to learn how to create, update and manage their website in OU Campus.

Seating is limited so please register in advance (each class in the Events Calendar has a large red "Register" button). Walk-ins will be accommodated if seats are available. Workshops may be cancelled if there are less than 3 attendees. If you need any assistance contact webservices@sjsu.edu

OU Campus 1A: Content Editing

This workshop will cover the basics of editing content within the university's web content management system: OU Campus. By the end of the workshop, participants will have the tools and knowledge necessary to:

  • Upload documents
  • Upload images
  • Add new text content to a page
  • Change existing text content
  • Add an image to a page
  • Change existing images
  • Create links to other pages
  • Create links to documents

OU Campus 1B: Site Management and Creating New Pages

This workshop will cover the basics of page creation and site management. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Create new pages
  • Customize site navigation
  • Reorganize existing site structures

Advanced Training Options

OU Campus 2A: Reusable Content and Special Templates

This class will cover how to use the special templates (Forms, RSS, Faculty/Staff List) and how to take advantage of reusable content (Snippets and Assets).

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • use special templates (Forms, News, Staff & Site Index)
  • add Snippets to editable content
  • create and manage Assets
  • access the global image assets gallery

OU Campus 2B: Photo Galleries and Web Forms

This class will cover how to build photo galleries and create web forms for your website. Powered by Assets, each of these new features are easy to create and easy to maintain.

Knowing how to use Assets is important for this class. If you haven't used Assets before, please review the documentation and training material that covers them. (Assets are covered in the OU Campus 2A training session.)

Participants will learn how to:

  • create dynamic image galleries
  • build web forms

Open Lab Sessions

Open Lab Sessions are geared towards seeking consultation on specific topics such as: "How can I embed my Google calendar? Should I implement a snippet or asset? How can I change the navigation order?" No registration is needed to attend the open lab. Listed below are upcoming lab sessions. 

Video Tutorials

There are many video tutorials available covering a wide range of topics. However, these videos were created shortly after the campus migration and do not reflect the OU Campus Version 10 update.

Web Services will be developing new and replacement videos for Version 10 on an ongoing basis.
