Scheduling Sign Displays

Scheduling Display Changes

If you want to have your sign cycle through different presentations (for example, play a video, show a slideshow, then repeat) you can use this procedure to set up the schedule.

Plan the Schedule

Make a list of the URLs for each part of the scheduled content. URLs will be something like

http://sjdc-iptv-web.sjsu.edu/signage/digitalsigns/...

To find the URL in OU Campus, go to the page with the content, select the Production tab, and click the View button. The content might not play in your browser, but you can see the URL in the location bar.

Set Up the Schedule

  • Check out the first page of the scheduled displays (since it will be a repeating cycle, you can start anywhere)
  • Edit the properties of the page
  • In the field named "Which sign comes after this one?", enter the URL of the next page in the scheduleScreenshot showing scheduling options
Note: If you do not see Which sign comes after this one? and How long (in seconds) until the switch to the new sign? properties, it could be because your page was created before these properties were added. You can contact Web Services to get the page updated.
  • In the field named "How long (in seconds) until the switch to the new sign?", enter the number of seconds you want the page to be displayed before going to the next one
  • Repeat this for all of the pages in the schedule. When you get to the last page, enter the URL of the first one to complete the cycle

Edit the Schedule

Insert a new item

  • Edit the properties of the existing page you want to appear before the new page, and replace the "Which sign comes after this one?" field with the URL of the new page.
  • Edit the properties of the new page and enter the URL of the page that should come after the new one in the "Which sign comes after this one?" field.
  • Publish all changed pages

Remove an item

  • Edit the properties of the page that is displayed prior to the one you want to remove, and replace the "Which sign comes after this one?" field with the URL of the page that comes after the one you want to remove.
  • Publish the changed page
